Aiken, SC man with long record is jailed in alleged attempted murder case after the shooting of his common law wife

(Aiken County, South Carolina) – A Warrenville, S.C. man with long criminal history is charged with trying to murder his common law wife in a shooting early today in Aiken County, S.C.
The man claimed he accidentally shot the victim during an argument. The case is being investigated by the Aiken County Sheriff’s Dept.
31-year-old Trevor Jataurus Mckie was booked into the Aiken County Detention Center about 6:30 a.m. ET on Sat., Nov. 4, 2017.
He is charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a felon during the commission of a violent crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Mckie’s common-law wife told police the shooting happened about 4:30 a.m. Saturday during an argument. She was shot with a handgun inside the couple’s garage at 883 Richardsons Lake Road in Warrenville.
The name of the victim has not been released.
The victim is being treated for a gunshot wound to the stomach in an Augusta, GA hospital.
The suspect has a long list of crimes listed on the Aiken County Sheriff’s Department website including numerous felonies and a progression of mugshots stretching back to 2004.
Mckie’s past convictions including failure to pay child support, drunken driving and burglary.
